Principle No. 1: Language learning should be fun, stimulating, and enjoyable.
Let’s face it – most language learning textbooks are boring. Language learning is hard enough without also having to deal with dry and uninspiring material. The more fun and enjoyable the content of the language class, the easier it is to learn and remember.
Most language courses involve a lot of rote learning – the endless repetition of words until they stick in your memory. Rote learning is mostly ineffective because it is tedious.
Since language learning generally is not interesting, learners often give up soon after taking up a language. This is unfortunate, because everyone can reach a good level of proficiency in the language, if only the language instruction and materials were more stimulating.
At Mirai Language Systems, our first objective is to ensure that our materials are enjoyable and that they will encourage the language learner to continue to progress with their learning. Learning a language necessarily takes time and effort, but it can be time well spent with an enjoyable effort!
